Our Story
In 2002, Gary Kam established Modern China Restaurant with a clear mission: to offer Hong Kongers the piquant flavours of Shanghai, Beijing and Sichuan cuisine at the most affordable price.
Kam believes that a good dish is similar to a well made bespoke suit: formed with the best ingredients by an experienced craftsman. A good tailor knows how to choose and turn the finest cloth into a suit that satisfies the customer, a professional chef knows what fresh ingredients is all about, and makes best use of them to fulfill the expectation of diners.
“A diners’ satisfaction is also ours. I won’t let our customers taste something that can’t even satisfy my standards,” Kam stresses.
